I don’t know about you but when I think back on my middle school days… I cry. I was a what you call a “former fat kid”. Now that I think about it, it didn’t help that my hair was always slicked back into a low ponytail and that my wardrobe had nothing other than men’s t-shirts and basketball shorts. I was a disaster. One memory that sticks out like a sore thumb in my mind is the great accidental spanking. Hear me out, it was a complete accident and could have happened to anyone.

I was in 8th grade and from what I can remember I was in history class. I loved the class, not because of the subject but because the teacher made the class fun. That week was semester exams and that day was my class’s day for the history exam. The exam was short and sweet, nothing too crazy and we got to just hang around after. I was with a group of kids that were watching a movie on the laptop off of Netflix. Next to us was a group of kids playing Uno with a limited amount of seating so some of the kids had to lean on the desk or sit on the floor. Mr. S was playing along and was leaning on the desk and the end near my seat. I thought of joining but I was never one for social interaction.

Me being the typical 8th grader was bored out of my mind. Seeing that there was going to be nothing to cure my boredom I decided to take matters into my own hands and picked up a textbook to start reading.

After a while, I started to get bored again and was for sure that I was going to die from being so bored. I thought it would be a good idea to start tossing and swinging the textbook side to side. Completely forgetting that the teacher was leaning over the desk behind me playing Uno, I decided to start swinging aggressively. The book went side to side, left to right. I had no intentions of stopping because I finally found something to keep me entertained until I felt my book hit something followed by a low-pitched “what the…” I turned around and then realized I didn’t hit something, I hit someone.

Scratch that- I didn’t hit someone I hit someone’s butt. With my luck, it just wasn’t anyone it was Mr. S. Yes I hit my teacher’s butt with a textbook while he was bent over a desk playing Uno. Thank goodness for winter break because I don’t think I could’ve survived another five minutes in that class after what I did. For the rest of the year, I was known as the girl who spanked her teacher.
